Referenced

Task:  Draw the given image as accurately as possible.

Objective:  Improve basic drawing skills by mimicking professional artists.

We’re not encouraging plagiarism or tracing!  Referenced drawing is when you’re given a specific picture that you have to draw.

The purpose of this course is to help students learn from other artists.  Practicing referenced art will help in learning proportions, lighting, shading, perspective, style and more.

The Referenced course is a great way for beginners to learn and to keep veterans in check.

Original

Task:  Draw anything you want.

Objective:  Develop your creativity and drawing style.

There may be basic drawing techniques that artists need to learn, but imagination and creativity is up to the individual.

The Original course will help students develop their own style through their own creativity.

Don’t forget to balance out your practice by participating in this course every now and then.

Theme

Task:  Draw a picture while following the assignment theme.

Objective:  Improve creativity and basic drawing skills.

Artist block?  Have time to draw but don’t know what to draw?

The Theme course provides a theme or idea to work with then let’s you do the rest.

We tell you what to do, you just practice your drawing.

Timed

Task:   Finish the given drawing assignment within the time limit.

Objective:  Improve drawing speed and learn how to pace yourself.

Spending a little more time on one drawing can be beneficial in some ways.  However, when drawing a single picture takes weeks, you might want to start checking your pacing.

The Timed course is fashioned to help you cut time off of your drawings.  More time = more drawings = more practice = win.

Fanart

Task:  Draw a fanart of a given character or series.

Objective:  Improve creativity and technique by drawing someone else’s character in your own style or setting.

The Fanart course will let you bring your favorite characters into your art!

Not only will you improve your technique by mimicking the character, but you’ll be exercising your creativity by placing the character in your own setting.

Realism

Task:  Draw the assignment as realistically as you can.

Objective:  Improve overall drawing skills by attempting something difficult.

Making something look real on paper is not easy.

The Realism course gives students the difficult task of making something look real, like a photograph.

By branching out and attempting more difficult tasks, you can improve your overall drawing skills.

Bold

Task:  Draw the given daring assignment.

Objective:  Go outside your comfort zone.

The Bold course will probably leave you uncomfortable.  Who knows?  It’s good to try new things?

Collaboration

Task:  Carry out the given assignment with other students.

Objective: Improve teamwork and learn new techniques by working with others.

The Collaboration course is all about teamwork.  Work together towards a common goal!

Receiving input from other artists will help you look at your art from a different perspective.  Learn to improve yourself!
